Triphala Powder
Triphala means "three fruits", and that is exactly what it is: amalaki, bibhitaki and haritaki, dried and milled together in the classical proportion. It is probably the single best-known formulation in Ayurveda, and it has been prepared the same way for centuries. The taste is genuinely unusual — Ayurveda describes triphala as carrying five of the six tastes at once, and you can pick out sour, bitter and astringent quite distinctly. Most people take it in warm water at night rather than trying to enjoy it.

How to Use
- Stirred into warm water at night, the classical preparation
- Taken with honey or ghee to soften the astringency

- Used as a traditional gargle or mouth rinse
- Steeped and cooled as a traditional eyewash in Ayurvedic practice
- Combined with other Ayurvedic powders such as shatavari
Directions of Use
- Take 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (about 3–5 g) in warm water, traditionally at night before bed.
- Steep in hot water for a few minutes if you prefer it as an infusion.
- Start with a smaller quantity and increase gradually.
- The strong astringency is characteristic and expected.
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
- Not recommended during pregnancy. If you are breastfeeding, taking medication, or have a digestive condition, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use.
