The insulin plant, Costus igneus, is a leafy garden plant grown widely across South India, where the leaves are dried and milled into a green powder. The common name is long-established in Indian gardening and folk practice — it refers to the plant, not to the hormone insulin, and this product is a plain dried leaf powder. It is taken traditionally as a leaf infusion or stirred into water, and is one of a number of leaf powders used in South Indian households.
Our insulin plant leaves are selected from growers in South India, then shade-dried and finely milled under controlled conditions to preserve their colour and natural composition.
