Bhringraj leaf, dried and milled to a soft green powder. Ayurveda calls it kesharaja — "king of hair" — and that is overwhelmingly how it is used: mixed into a paste with water, oil or curd and worked through the scalp, most often alongside amla. It is a herb people use rather than eat. The powder makes a deep green paste with a grassy, slightly bitter smell that fades as it dries.

How to Use
- A hair mask, mixed to a paste with warm water, curd or oil
- Combined with amla, shikakai or reetha in a traditional hair pack
- Infused into coconut or sesame oil for a scalp massage oil
- Applied to the scalp before washing, as part of a weekly routine
- Used in traditional henna and natural hair-colour preparations
Directions of Use
- For a hair mask, mix 2–3 tablespoons with warm water, curd or oil into a smooth paste.
- Apply to the scalp and along the lengths, leave 30–45 minutes, then rinse and shampoo.
- Use once or twice a week.
- To make an oil, warm the powder gently in coconut or sesame oil, cool, strain and store.
- The deep green pigment can stain fabric, towels and light surfaces — take care.
- Do a patch test before first use if you have sensitive skin.
- For external use. If taking internally, do so only under the guidance of a qualified practitioner, and not during pregnancy.
